Dustin Croul is a working illustrator and book designer residing in sunny Los Angeles, California. Graduating from Art Center College of Design and a chosen winner for the American Illustration slideshow. His choice of visual medium references back to the adoption of analog printmaking, using layered colors to execute his designs and creative processes. Croul’s practice combines traditional printed concepts with new illustrative designs to create his own personal style, adding a unique contemporary-whimsy to be etched upon the page.
My work is playful, gestural, and tonally textured. I love trying to deconstruct objects and characters to their most natural state of shape. I center my themes around nature, plants, animals and the subtle complexities of what it is to be human.
